With the announcement back in February 2017 of a major expansion at the Coronado Springs Resort, It has been an exciting journey seeing the gradual progress of the structures being built and the culmination of a 2 year project.
Walt Disney Imagineering has been leading the reinvigoration of the resort to dramatically improve the overall guest experience.
The expansion consisting of a centrepiece 15-storey tower, adding 545 guest rooms and including suites and concierge services will offer a unique vantage point overlooking lake Dorado with rooftop dining and views across Walt Disney World.
The new Tower will become the main focal point for all guests arriving for check-in, where they will enter and be greeted with an impressively grand two-storey lobby area.
As part of the project all existing guest rooms will also be refreshed and a host of new amenities added such as the addition of floating gardens, a second new restaurant located on an island in the middle of the resort’s 14-acre lake and an island oasis that connects the resort through a series of bridges.
The fly-through video was released back in mid October giving an overview of the new facilities.
Disney announced a month ago (October) that the new tower would officially open in Summer 2019 and only ten days ago (November) the New name of ‘Gran Destino Tower’ was confirmed.
