With only a matter of days to go until our next trip to the sunshine state of Florida, destination: Walt Disney World, it’s time to update on our plans and activities for this upcoming holiday!
This trip will be just the two of us on this occasion which makes a change! Departing London Gatwick on the 27th April, flying with our favourite long-haul carrier Virgin Atlantic. We are staying for a total of sixteen nights staying on Disney property for the full stay. We also have Car hire booked with Alamo, which for us having a car is a must and gives a huge amount of flexibility,
We are spreading our time across three resorts on this trip. Firstly after picking up the hire car on arrival we will head over to Disney’s Animal Kingdom lodge (Jambo House) where we will stay for the first ten nights. This remains one of our favourite resorts and we miss the warm atmosphere and relaxed feeling when we don’t stay here, so we are looking forward to being back!
From here we will take the drive over to the east coast and to Disney’s Vero Beach Resort for three nights. Located near Wabasso and the Sebastian inlet, We stayed here a few years ago and fell in love with the relaxed feel of the resort, the beach and the neighbouring area and it has become our choice for a yearly spring-time relaxation away from the Orlando Parks. We loved it so much we purchased a third DVC contract to make this a regular stay!
After a few days of relaxation we head back to Walt Disney world and will check into Disney’s Bay Lake Tower located adjacent to the contemporary resort for the final three nights of our stay. It’s a Brilliant location for Magic Kingdom and great for catching the fireworks too and for enjoying the view and the drinks (and the seven layer chocolate cake) at the Top Of The World Lounge.
Dining always plays a large part of trips to Orlando for most visitors, and we are no exception. This trip sees us venture to old favourites and some a few new ones too.
New To try: The Edison, Enzos Hideaway. Part of our dapper weekend samplers!
Old on-site favourites include: Yak & Yeti, Be Our Guest dinner, ‘Ohana Dinner, Chefs De France, Grand Floridian Afternoon Tea. I’m sure plenty of others which we will decide later.
Offsite include: Hamburger Marys (especially for drag queen bingo!), Keke’s, Loads of new places we are desperate to try in Vero Beach, Italian Dinner evening with our Dapper ‘family’ and I’m sure we will fit in a trip to My French Cafe too!
The Plan highlights
One of our regular drivers for spring visit is for The ‘Dapper day’ events. Usually Spread over a weekend, everyone dons their most dapper vintage outfits and heads to the parks in style. These ‘unofficial’ events are growing in popularity and usually have quite a large attendance over the weekend and whilst not arranged by Disney themselves, they usually provide special elements and features to show their support. This will guide most of our first weekend with nautical and floral themed outfits planned! Also as part of this trip, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will still be celebrating it’s twentieth anniversary and is hosting a few special events to mark the occasion. Firstly we have booked the ‘A path less traveled’ tour. A combination of experiences arranged for the parks anniversary which takes you backstage at Rafikis planet watch first, then on to see some of the native nesting purple martins, followed by ‘caring for giants’ elephant experience and rounds off the day with a VIP seating spot for Rivers of Light. This tour only runs from April to early May for a short run so we wanted to experience this. We also look forward to seeing the new UP! A great bird adventure show which has just opened this week. Replacing the flights of wonder show which closed at the end of 2017.As always, a real highlight of our trips is the ever growing friendships we share with fellow Disney loving British travellers and American residents and it’s always a pleasure to meet up and spend time with them. This trip is no exception with get-togethers scheduled with The Vaughan’s, The Englers, Our ‘Dapper’ family, The Hardy’s, The Hemms, and a get together with two Disney Bride friends Hannah and Suzie (and their husbands!)
Last but not least, to meet up and see our wonderful cast member friends we have made over our visits
It’s shaping up to be a really exciting trip and we will post some updates throughout our trip via our blog page to share with you all!
Thank you all for reading and we look forward to sharing more of our trip with you!
See you all soon!!
